Early life and Education

Jason Michael Gedroic was born on 7 February 1965, in Chicago, Illinois USA, in Cook County Hospital, of part-Polish descent. He has two older siblings, a brother named Joel Gedroic and a sister Dawne Gedroic.

The family spent their early years in Mount Prospect suburbs, but he moved to the Uptown neighborhood sometime later after his parents divorced, and he was left in the custody of his mother, while his siblings remained with their father.

Gedrick attended the Roman Catholic Gordon Technical High School in Chicago, matriculating in 1982. Afterward, he enrolled at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and studied business as this was his parent’s wish. However, as he had undiagnosed dyslexia, he found it very hard to concentrate, and completed his freshman year only with the help of his then-girlfriend.

However, he dropped out soon after, and moved to Hollywood, California to focus on his acting career. And where he Anglicized his surname to Gedrick.

Career

Gedrick acted in a few feature films in the early 1980s, such as “Bad Boys” and “Risky Business”, but his appearances were minor. It was in 1985 when he finally had a few more noticeable roles in the movies “The Zoo Gang”, “The Heavenly Kid” and “Iron Eagle”. In 1987, he starred as Hancock in Michael Hoffman’s drama film “Promised Land”, opposite Kiefer Sutherland and Meg Ryan.

In 1989 he appeared in a few notable films, including “Rooftops” in which he starred, “Deadly Nightmares” starring Page Fletcher and Nicholas Campbell, as well as “Born on the Fourth of July”, opposite Tom Cruise, Bryan Larkin and Raymond J. Barry.

In 1993, he starred in the TV drama series “Class of ‘96”, but the show was canceled after the first season. A year later, he became a part of the main cast of “Sweet Justice”, a TV drama series starring Melissa Gilbert, about a young attorney who decides to change her lifestyle. Gedrick portrayed Bailey Connors, and remained in the show for two seasons.

Jason was cast as Neil Avedon in the TV crime series “Murder One” in 1995, and remained in the show for 29 episodes until 1996, when he then landed the role of Danny Rooney on “EZ Streets”. The series wasn’t long-lasting, ending after the first season, despite being praised by both critics and the audience.

In 1997, he portrayed Jay Mitchell in Paul Ziller’s crime film “Silent Cradle”, and the same year appeared in the TV film “The Third Twin”, then portrayed Cross De Lena in the TV mini-series “The Last Don”, as well as in its sequel “The Last Don II”. In 1999 he made a few guest appearances in TV series, such as “Arli$$” and “Ally McBeal”.

Gedrick co-starred in TV crime series “Falcone” in 2000, alongside Amy Carlson and Sonny Marinelli. The following year he appeared in the short-lived series “The Beast”, created by Kario Salem, then opposite Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jessica Biel in the comedy film “Summer Catch”, and in “One Eyed Kind” and “Strange Frequency”. In 2002, he was the notable character Officer Tom Turcotte in the first season of the series “Boomtown”, and reprised that role in an episode of the second season of “S.O.S. 18”.

In 2003, he starred as Andrew Luster, the heir to the rich family, and a convicted rapist, in the TV film “A Date with Darkness: The Trial and Capture of Andrew Luster”. In the following years, he appeared in several TV series, such as “North Shore”, “Lax” and “Crossing Jordan”.

In 2005, he portrayed Tony Cappuccino in “Jesus, Mary, and Joey”, and in 2006 he co-starred in “Windfall”, a TV series about friends who deal with problems after achieving instant wealth. He also appeared in the famous fantasy series “Supernatural”, in an episode called “The Usual Suspects”, as well as in the episode “The Night We Met” from another well-known series, “Ghost Whisperer”.

Gedrick is perhaps most recognized for his portrayal of Rick Coletti, a former drug addict and love interest of Felicity Huffman’s character in TV series “Desperate Housewives”, appearing in the third and fourth seasons of the show.

He was a guest character in several other TV series, such as “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit”, “How to Get Away with Murder”, “Criminal Minds” and “Justified”. In 2015 he had significant roles in two series, “Bosch” and “Beauty and the Beast”, and the following year landed the role of Mark Hickman in “Major Crimes”, remaining in the series for two seasons.

In 2017, he portrayed Sheriff Charles ‘Stone’ Geary in five episodes of “Trouble Creek”, and the following year co-starred in the drama film “Bella’s Story”, and portrayed Grillo in “Acts of Desperation”, a thriller about a police officer enraged that his wife is having an affair.

Most recently, in 2019 he was a guest character, Frank Hardy, in an episode of “Lethal Weapon”.

Personal Life

In 1986, Gedrick was dating fellow actress Daphne Zuniga, who is best known for her work on “Spaceballs”, “The Sure Thing” and “Melrose Place”, however. this relationship didn’t last long.

The following year, he had a brief relationship with Tracy Scoggins, an actress known for “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”, “Crusade” and “Borrowed Moments”.

Gedrick married Dana Lavas, in 1989, and the couple has three sons, Garret Reed, Jian and Ty Gedrick, born in 1991, ‘94 and ‘95 respectively. They divorced in 1997, and since then Jason hasn’t disclosed details of any other relationship.

He prefers keeping most of his life private, so not much is known about his everyday life. He isn’t active on any social media accounts.
